I've never rowed before, how do I start? - No problem, come to the open day or contact us. we start a new squad of novices every year in September.

When's your Open Day? A Saturday morning in early September. Keep an eye on our facebook page or contact us in August

How many times a week do you train? Club/Senior athletes will row 5-6 days a week and also have off water sessions on ergs and novices will build up to 4-5 times a week on the water. Your coach may require you to do some additional training.

Will I get fit? Yes, rowing is the highest intensity endurance sport. The training and racing are hard but you'll be amongst like minded people who you can have a laugh and a drink with when you're not working your butt off.

How old do I have to be? We'll take anyone who is Year 9 at High School or older. If you're at a School which has it's own Rowing Program then best go and see your Teacher in Charge of Rowing.

How old is too old? You're never too old to row, but we don't currently cater for Masters or Recreational rowers, for that get in touch with our neighbours at the Union Rowing Club.

How much will it cost? Our subs last season were $775. This includes most things you'll need (regatta entries, racing license fees to Rowing New Zealand and Canterbury Rowing Association, administrative fees and boat insurance and maintenance) but not clothing or regatta and camp costs (travel, accommodation and food)

How many times do you race? We normally race a 5 regattas a season. The last one is the Nationals which is 5 days in Late Feb.

How long is the season? We start in September and finish in Late Feb at the National Champs.
